PghTech Women Network to be Formed

The Pittsburgh Technology Council, in coordination with other regional partners will be forming the PghTech Women Network later this fall. A launch is planned for October 29 at Red Ring Restaurant on the campus of Duquesne University.

We need to hear your thoughts. Share your ideas with us in the comments section. What would you like to see this network accomplish? What events could this network coordinate? How can we help spread the word?

Any input is welcomed! We’ll be linking to a survey soon and announcing partners in this project. Stay tuned for more…but in the meantime…let us know your ideas!

I’d like to see some tracks or groups focused on women just entering their careers in this area. Since so many people say this area’s largest export is graduating college students, I think setting up some support for those of us who are here would be an asset to the network.

As a relatively new Pittsburgher, I’m looking forward to meeting other technical women in the area. :-)

In response to Khealey, I think supporting women early in their careers is incredibly important and often overlooked. There’s so much focus on getting women into computing (school events, outreach etc) and so little energy put into keeping them once they’re here.

    See you in October!
