History Center Showcases Pittsburgh’s Innovation

historyJust got back from meeting with the folks at at the Senator John Heinz History Center and toured the new “Pittsburgh: A Tradition of Innovation”exhibition was completely enamored. I’m a total nerd for history, especially Pittsburgh history. Throw in a history of Pittsburgh innovation, and I can hardly contain myself! If you’re a Pittsburgher to the core, this exhibit is a must-see.

You come face to face with Pittsburghers from the past 250 years from Queen Aliquippa to a virtual Gearge Westinghouse. You can ask him around 200 questions about his amazing life of innovation and technology. You can peer through a microscope at the polio virus while watching video of Dr. Jonas Salk. There is so much more.

Better yet, The exhibit is starting to collect innovations from Pittsburgh companies that are in business right now. The Council is in the preliminary stages of working with the History Center to build a stronger link with the technology comunity.

Keep your dial tuned to Techburgher as I’m sure some pretty cinteresting announcements will be forthcoming. Be sure to visit the History Center this Saturday. The weather is going to be nasty and it’s a great way to spend the afternoon and kill some time before the Steeler game.
