Project Eviive Announces G20 Press Event at Carnegie Science Center

Project Eviive, the Pittsburgh-based non-profit organization, will hold an event to announce its program for solving one of the world’s most critical health issues: access to clean water. The organization will discuss its program to solve the global water shortage through installations of a new technology developed by Epiphany Solar Water Systems.

All are invited to attend the press event, which will be held on the lawn behind the Carnegie Science Center. The Science Center, located at 1 Allegheny Avenue in the North Shore neighborhood of Pittsburgh, is directly adjacent to Heinz Field. The presentation will begin at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, September 23. Speakers and presenters include: Amy Joseph and Eddie Edwards, Co-Chairs of Project Eviive; and Tom Joseph, founder of Epiphany SWS and the designer of Epiphany E3 Solar Water purification and de-salination system. The E3 will demonstrate purification of water using direct solar power.

Ms. Joseph stated, “We are less than a week from launching Project Eviive and couldn’t be more excited. Water is one of our most critical commodities for survival. Out of desperation, many communities are forced to accept contaminated water and the consequences that follow. It is no coincidence that we chose the G20 meeting as the time to unveil this life-saving and life-changing technology.”

Mr. Edwards pointed out the massive amount of resources that could be redirected once the water crisis is behind us. “According to the World Health Organization, the world could save up to $500 billion in aid over the next 10 years if the problem of water sanitation was solved in the developing world. This is real money that could be deployed to build infrastructure and economic development.”

Three Rivers Venture Fair Attracts Folks from Near and Far

So the Three Rivers Venture Fair wrapped up yesterday, bringing together hundreds of investors, entrepreneurs, business owners, technologists and more under one roof.

Nearly 30 companies from the mid-Atlantic region, and oh so many from Pittsburgh, gave their pitch to potential investors. Some of the more notable companies included etcetera edutainment, Civic Science, ATRP Solutions, RedPath and Metis Secure Solutions.

Techburgher tips its hat to the Three Rivers Venture Fair for producing such an important event. Since its founding in 2002, the 3 Rivers Venture Fair has helped participating ventures raise more than $292+ million in investment capital.

George Shea and Manan Shah of Focus Investment Banking were first-time attendees of the venture fair. Focus helped close two deals in the Pittsburgh region in 2009, including the sale of Allin to Dell and Pepperweed Advisors to Cognizant.

Shea says Pittsburgh is on a lot of people’s radar now. Focus has closed seven deals this year (two in Pittsburgh) with six more in the pipeline. Despite a nasty economy, Shea and Shah note that deals are still happening, especially smaller deals like Allin and Pepperweed.

Shea and Shah concur, Pittsburgh will be an area of focus for Focus!
