So the Three Rivers Venture Fair wrapped up yesterday, bringing together hundreds of investors, entrepreneurs, business owners, technologists and more under one roof.
Nearly 30 companies from the mid-Atlantic region, and oh so many from Pittsburgh, gave their pitch to potential investors. Some of the more notable companies included etcetera edutainment, Civic Science, ATRP Solutions, RedPath and Metis Secure Solutions.
Techburgher tips its hat to the Three Rivers Venture Fair for producing such an important event. Since its founding in 2002, the 3 Rivers Venture Fair has helped participating ventures raise more than $292+ million in investment capital.
George Shea and Manan Shah of Focus Investment Banking were first-time attendees of the venture fair. Focus helped close two deals in the Pittsburgh region in 2009, including the sale of Allin to Dell and Pepperweed Advisors to Cognizant.
Shea says Pittsburgh is on a lot of people’s radar now. Focus has closed seven deals this year (two in Pittsburgh) with six more in the pipeline. Despite a nasty economy, Shea and Shah note that deals are still happening, especially smaller deals like Allin and Pepperweed.
Shea and Shah concur, Pittsburgh will be an area of focus for Focus!
