Wall Street Journal and Winning Workplaces Select Cargas as 2009 Top Small Workplace Finalist

The Wall Street Journal and Winning Workplaces have collaborated to identify exceptional small organizations in their 2009 annual ranking of the Top Small Workplaces. Cargas Systems was chosen as one of 35 national finalists.

In order to be nominated, each organization must be independent, with no more than $200 million in annual revenues and 500 or fewer employees. Applicants were drawn from US companies and across a broad spectrum of industries to include private, nonprofit and publicly held organizations.

The Program’s selection committee considered small employers that foster teamwork, flexibility, high productivity and innovation. In addition, organizations must also help their employees grow personally and professionally, while providing benefits that improve their lives and communities.

The Winning Workplaces evaluation criteria included many of the practices that Cargas Systems embraces including: open communication, teamwork, healthy work/life balance, career advancement, strong core values and team-based compensation. Cargas Systems considers these measures a key link to their average employee tenure of 7 years.

“Our entire team is extremely proud to be named a Top Small Workplace finalist by one of the most prestigious business publications in the world,” says, Chip Cargas, Chairman and CEO of Cargas Systems. “It’s rewarding to be recognized on a national level for our special culture and employee ownership model. Any employee can be an owner at Cargas, regardless or role or title. This inspires us to work as a team toward common goals, deliver great customer care and share the success widely.
